Blooms v0.2.2 - What's New?

Image
We are always looking at ways we can improve the website to maximise the satisfaction of our community. Please read the list below to find out new features that have been added. Increased Collaboration in the Question Feed Users now have the ability to up/down vote any answer on any question. Answers will be displayed in order of their score, meaning that the most useful answers will be displayed first, instead of in chronological order. Even if the original questioner forgets about the question, the community can imply which answers are most helpful to anyone else who opens the question dialog. Each up-vote will increase the  user score of the  teacher who answered, meaning that even answers not marked as correct can help increase your score. Question Feed Filters Our new filters allow you to further tailor your news feed to how you are feeling in any given scenario. Feel like increasing your user score and contributing to the community? Tick  "only show unanswere...

Deep Dive: Statuses

Image
Why did we add Statuses to Bloom’s Network? We have implemented features into Bloom’s Network that we do not think you will find anywhere else. However, to optimise the positive impact our website can have on teachers, the decision was made to port similar functionality from existing social media websites. One of these is the status feed. As with everything else, the Statuses feed has been tailored to the teaching community in an attempt to provide a one-stop solution for teachers to use in their everyday lives. What is the Statuses feature? That Statuses feature is made up of two components: writing a post to the wider teaching community and writing one specifically to teachers at your school. Communicating With The Wider Teaching Community It is evident from our research that the ability to post a status to the teaching community as a whole, to get a wide variety of opinions, is highly desired. There are a large number of groups on Facebook that have been created for this very reaso...

Deep Dive: Questions

Image
Have you ever found yourself wanting to direct an educational question to your peers but not found a suitable means? Do you have a desire to help other teachers grow their understanding of your subject? At Bloom’s Network we have created a way for you to target your questions and help others to grow. Why have we added Questions to Bloom’s Network? Right now it is easier than ever to access information online. Need to find that recipe you saw on TV the other night? Google it. Want to learn about that new technological innovation everyone is raving about? Google it. Having the urge to learn about the battle of Hastings on a whim? Google it. However, information from a basic Google search is often best-suited to generic questions. If your question is particularly specific, you may find numerous conflicting opinions or struggle to find an answer at all. Questions on Bloom’s Network aims to fix these issues and allow teachers to find answers for all of their questions in a community settin...

Welcome to Bloom's Network

Image
Are you an educator looking for a community of like-minded individuals with whom you can collaborate, question and communicate? If so, Bloom's Network is the place for you. We have spent the past few years developing a social networking website, tailored to the needs of modern day teaching, which we hope can be an integral part of every day teaching in the future. Market research conducted by our team implied that finding reliable, useful resources is one of the biggest stresses facing teachers in today's classroom. Bloom's Network has been created in an attempt to alleviate this stress with a one-stop solution. We are giving teachers access to an online portal that, among other things, will enable them to:  upload/download resources from our free resource bank,  ask questions to other teachers in their field, and post statuses to their school's personalised news feed. Over the coming weeks and months we will be writing blog posts, going into detail on each section of t...
